Who is Chris?

I have been a woodworker for over forty years. I have always enjoyed the making process, starting with raw materials and having something tangible at the end of the making. I first started wood turning twenty years ago and have had a passion for it from the outset. I enjoy both production turning, which involves making one off pieces and multiples of the same item to a customer’s requirements. In addition to this, I particularly enjoy making one-off unique items such as bowls, pots, boxes and funeral urns.

For my larger pieces I obtain my wood from logs that would otherwise be discarded or used for fire wood. It is very satisfying to take these pieces of wood and transform them into a beautiful and often useful item. Sometimes I add texture and colour to the piece, making a feature out of what could otherwise be considered a defect and accepting and enhancing the imperfections through careful craftsmanship.
